Clare Volunteer Centre has entered a new chapter in its story with the launch of the Strategic Plan 2025–2028. More than just a document, this plan reflects how much the Centre has grown over the past 17 years — and how determined it is to shape the future of volunteering in County Clare.
From its beginnings with a single part-time manager, Clare Volunteer Centre has become a vital hub connecting over 2,700 volunteers and 300 community organisations. Today, its role extends far beyond matchmaking volunteers with opportunities. It is about building resilience in communities, fostering inclusion, and strengthening the fabric of civic life.
The new Strategic Plan presents a vision of volunteering that is broad, ambitious, and deeply rooted in Clare’s values. It highlights the Centre’s commitment to inclusion, trust, and excellence, while underlining its drive to innovate and respond to emerging challenges — from climate action to the needs of marginalised communities.
Crucially, the plan is not just inward-looking. It reflects months of consultation with volunteers, local organisations, and strategic partners across Clare and beyond. Their voices helped shape priorities that ensure the Centre remains responsive, collaborative, and impactful.
Manager Sharon Meaney emphasises the spirit behind the plan:
“In a world that often moves at a relentless pace, it is volunteers who provide the anchor, the steady force that reminds us of the power of community and the importance of reaching out to those in need. Your commitment, time, and effort have not gone unnoticed, and the positive impact you make cannot be measured.”
The Strategic Plan 2025–2028 showcases Clare Volunteer Centre’s evolution into a forward-looking organisation — one that is ready to expand, to strengthen, and to continue leading volunteering into the future.
