Why get involved in the National Week of Volunteering?

Because volunteering benefits everyone!  Volunteering has a proven positive impact on volunteers, those they volunteer with and society in general. Whether its painting a community hall, giving blood, coaching a local sports team or committing a random act of volunteering, everyone has something to offer.

How do I get involved?

Previous examples of ways in which local organisations have got involved include:

  • Make Over in Clare Haven Services Refuge.  From painting walls to sorting donations to a spot of gardening, over 40 volunteers came together to make a difference in 2011
  • Fair Green Tidy Up. Local students came down to the Fair Green in Ennis to do a spot of litter picking supported by the Clare Volunteer Centre, Ennis Tidy Towns and Ennis Town Council
  • Volunteer Recognition Events.  Over the years, these events have ranged from Fashion shows, to Coffee mornings, to Volunteer Recognition lunches.
  • Knitting Our Community Together. In 2011, 11 community and voluntary groups and numerous volunteers knitted items to decorate sculptures on the Ennis Sculpture Trail.  A hugely successful event, a calendar was designed marking the project which was donated to each participating group.
  • Coffee for Coutoure. A residents association in Ennis, held a coffee morning, where people were asked to bring along one quality items of clothing.  The clothes were modelled in a fashion show organised by the Irish Cancer Shop and all money raised went to the Irish Cancer Society
  • and the list goes .....................
